The Gulf of Calvi is best experienced from the sea. It’s aboard a boat, with your feet in the sea spray, that you truly understand why this place is so captivating.

During a two-hour boat ride from the port of Calvi, our boat cruises along a coastline that the road never reveals. The Genoese citadel first comes into view from an unusual angle—imposing, perched on its rock as it has been for centuries. Further on, the Revellata lighthouse marks the entrance to a wild peninsula where STARESO is located, an oceanographic station whose researchers have been studying the seafloor of this unspoiled stretch of the Mediterranean for decades.

Depending on the day’s conditions, our boat approaches the Grotte des Veaux Marins, a cavity carved by the sea into the limestone rock, accessible only by sea. It’s a quiet place, somewhat timeless.

The excursion includes a stop for swimming in crystal-clear waters, far from crowded beaches. We turn off the engine and dive in. This is often the favorite part for both children and parents.
