Calvi is not just a Genoese citadel overlooking the bay. It is also an ideal starting point for exploring some of the Mediterranean’s most spectacular seascapes, beginning with the Gulf of Calvi itself, with its sheltered waters and light that changes throughout the day. Every boat trip departing from Calvi reveals a different facet of this region, depending on the destination chosen, the duration of the trip, and the time of day.

The Gulf of Calvi serves as the natural starting point for all our excursions: the citadel viewed from the sea, the Revellata Peninsula and its lighthouse, and Alga Beach with its turquoise waters. This is the most accessible outing, ideal for a first exploration or for a shorter time spent at sea.

For those with half a day to spare, the excursion from Calvi to Scandola takes you to one of Europe’s most strictly protected nature reserves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site: red porphyry cliffs, sea caves, and colonies of ospreys that have been nesting on these cliffs for decades.

Further still, the Calanques de Piana reveal their red granite formations sculpted by millions of years of erosion, including a stop at the spectacular Capo Rosso and its natural pool. This longer excursion, which passes through the Scandola Nature Reserve, offers a complete immersion in the magnificent natural sites of Corsica’s west coast.

To experience these same landscapes in a different light, the Scandola and Girolata excursion with a sunset return combines a daytime exploration of the nature reserve and the hamlet of Girolata with a return to Calvi timed for dusk, when the red cliffs glow in the last rays of sunlight.

Finally, for a shorter but equally memorable outing, our Gulf of Calvi excursion with a sunset aperitif remains one of our most popular options: two hours at sea, a Corsican aperitif served on board just as the sun dips below the horizon, and a return to the harbor in the twilight.
